Custer State Park
Custer State Park boasts several scenic drives that explore the diversity of the area. From the granite spires of Needles Highway to the bison along WIldlife Loop Road. Walk the banks of French Creek, where Custer’s expedition first discovered gold in 1874. Visit the log cabin that was home to Badger Clark, South Dakota’s first poet laureate. Or, stop by the Peter Norbeck Visitor Center and witness the unique stone and log construction created by the CCC.

A historic town seated in the heart of the Black Hills of western South Dakota. The central location in this beautiful and majestic pine-covered range of rolling mountain terrain is what earned our community its nickname: “The Heart of the Hills.” Getting to Hill City is easy from Heartland RV Park and Cabins. It’s a quick 28 mile drive that will take you through other amazing attractions, including Keystone, South Dakota.


Wind Cave National Park
Bison, elk, and other wildlife roam the rolling prairie grasslands and forested hillsides of one of America’s oldest national parks. Below the remnant island of intact prairie sits Wind Cave, one of the longest and most complex caves in the world. Named for barometric winds at its entrance, this maze of passages is home to boxwork, a unique formation rarely found elsewhere.

Keystone, South Dakota
Nestled in the Beautiful Black Hills a short distance from Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Keystone is an attraction in itself, with great local shopping, restaurants, museums and more! Keystone is just 16 miles west of Heartland RV Park and Cabins, and makes a great destination for a day, or as a quick stop on your way to other area attractions like Mount Rushmore or Hill City.


Crazy Horse Memorial
Crazy Horse Memorial is located in the heart of the beautiful Black Hills. The Mountain is 6,532 ft and ranks 27th highest mountain in South Dakota. It is made of pegmatite granite and was chosen by Sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski & Lakota Chief Henry Standing Bear for the Crazy Horse Memorial. The Mission of Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation is to protect and preserve the culture, tradition and living heritage of the North American Indians.

Mickelson Trail
Imagine a path where the ghosts of Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane still roam; where bicyclists, hikers and horseback riders can explore spruce and ponderosa pine forests; and the very young, the very old and people of all abilities can enjoy.
Spearfish Canyon
The breathtaking limestone palisades of this creek-carved gorge are more ancient than the Grand Canyon – albeit much closer together. Accessible only by horseback until 1893, Spearfish Canyon’s narrow, 1000-foot walls are among the most spectacular scenery in the Black Hills. Spearfish Canyon is a great spot for wildlife enthusiasts, as the diverse array of plant life provides a comfortable home for deer, mountain goats, porcupines and bobcats.


Sturgis Motorcycle Rally
The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is an American motorcycle rally held annually in Sturgis, South Dakota, usually during the first full week of August. It began in 1938 and was originally held for stunts and races, but it has evolved into being a meeting for motorcycle enthusiasts from around the world. It brings significant income to the citizens of Sturgis, a town of only 6,627 people. It is one of the largest motorcycle rallies in the world.
